Introduction/Challenge to New Ship Recycling

Problems with local environmental pollution and incidents of worker injury and fatality in the ship-breaking yards.

The method of ship dismantling in Bangladesh and India has problems of fatal and injury accident due to explosions and land pollution.
Over 200 laborers have been died annually.
For instance, explosion occurs because a labor uses a burner while gas is filled at the other side.
Another instance is that a labor slips fall down from a considerable height and died.
Asbestos and waste oil are released into the sand at the seashore, so lands and seas are definitely contaminated.
Laborers do not aware of their hazardous work environment because there are no guidelines and training about ship dismantling.
